"Man is not disturbed by things but by the views he takes of them"

My counseling services are designed to help people find self-acceptance, feel understood, and develop hope in the midst of the difficulties of life.  During our sessions, I will provide practical tools and strategies on how to cope when life becomes unmanageable.  The reality is, life can be difficult. There is no way around that.  However, if you choose to come to counseling, you will learn how to look at your situation from another perspective that will enable you to manage those difficulties more effectively. In this way, we will challenge negative thoughts and work toward retraining the brain.

One of my specialties is working with individuals who are struggling with agoraphobia and are finding it difficult to break out of that bubble.  This could be caused by anxiety, depression, or something else but typically is having an unwanted, sometimes severe effect on an individual's quality of life.  If this is the situation you are facing; together we will work to identify the cause and build a course of treatment so that you are able to connect with the world around you more confidently and effectively.

I pull my therapy practice from a couple of different theories including Solution Focused  Brief  Therapy (SFBT,) Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR.)  However, the core of my therapy comes from Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT.)  This theory holds that most of our struggles in life are caused by self-defeating thoughts and feelings and that we can bring stability to our life by challenging the rationality of those feelings and replacing them with healthier, more productive beliefs.
